South Florida Biz Journal ME leaving for cybersecurity firm

Judy Miller

Judy Miller, the managing editor of the South Florida Business Journal, is leaving the American City Business Journals publication.

Her last day is May 4.

In an email to Talking Biz News, Miller wrote:

I love the Business Journal and working with the reporters here. Returning to journalism has been a true joy, and I had planned to retire here. But a friend with an expanding cybersecurity firm made me an unexpected offer I couldn’t refuse. The job takes advantage of my background in  media and in corporate fraud investigations. I’ll be Managing Director at Enterprise Risk Management in Coral Gables, overseeing all content and managing forensic investigations.

Miller worked at the Miami Herald from 1992 to 2006, starting as an assistant city editor in Broward County and rising to investigations editor and then managing editor. She led the team of Herald journalists that won the Pulitzer Prize in 1999 for exposing voter fraud in the Miami mayoral election.

She also co-led the Herald team that was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for coverage of the Elián González raid. She was part of Pulitzer Prize finalist teams with the Herald for two other stories: the Columbia shuttle explosion and electrical flaws in South Florida bus shelters.
