Melendez joins the American City Business Journals paper from the Daily Business Review, a Miami-based law journal, where he worked for two years. He replaces Celia Ampel who left the South Florida Business Journal in June to join the Daily Business Review.
He is a 2008 graduate of Columbia University, where he studied economics and political science. Early in his career, he had prestigious internships at Dow Jones Newswires, Time and Newsweek. He also worked as a business process analyst and management consultant to CGI, a management and IT consulting firm. His native language is Spanish, a plus for navigating Miami’s startup community.
“We’re thrilled to have Eleazar on our team as we embed ourselves more deeply in the Miami business scene, and we know our readers will appreciate his enthusiasm and creativity,” said Al Lewis, the editor of the South Florida Business Journal.
