South Florida Biz Journal hires new hospitality reporter

Billy Jean Louis

The South Florida Business Journal has hired journalist Billy Jean Louis as its hospitality reporter.

Brian Bandell of the Business Journal writes, “In his role at the business news outlet covering Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties, Jean Louis will cover one of the most robust sectors in the region. His beat includes hotels, airlines, cruise lines, tourism, trade groups, restaurants, retail, conventions and meetings, gaming, and other attractions.

“‘I’m very excited about the hospitality beat. It is action packed, and I love staying busy. I look forward to becoming the face of groundbreaking travel and tourism business news,’ Jean Louis said. ‘Most importantly, I’m happy to be back in South Florida.’

“Born in Haiti, Jean Louis relocated to Miami-Dade County where he later graduated from Hallandale High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Florida in 2014, and is fluent in English, French and Haitian Creole. He also speaks ‘a little bit’ of Spanish.”
