Social media editor Fillion leaving WSJ

Rubina Madan Fillion, a social media editor at The Wall Street Journal, said goodbye to her colleagues on Friday.

In an email, Fillion wrote:

After an amazing seven years, today is my last day at the WSJ. I’m headed to a journalism startup (The Intercept) to lead their digital engagement strategy.

It’s difficult to leave a job you love, with colleagues you respect and look forward to seeing every day. I grew up here – starting as a single staffer fresh out of J-school and leaving shortly before the birth of my daughter.

Please do stay in touch. My personal email is xxxx. And of course you can always find me on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.

Thanks to all of you who advised me, befriended me and helped me grow as a person and a journalist.

Fillion’s responsibilities at The Journal included responding to breaking news, co-managing the Journal’s social media accounts, working on interactive projects, and training reporters and editors in online best practices.

She has degrees from Emory University and the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
