SMU seeks to start business journalism program

A growing program committed to teaching convergence journalism seeks to fill the William O’Neil Chair in Business Journalism for Fall 2006.

This is a newly endowed chair for a professional in residence with responsibilities for teaching business journalism and media management. The position is part of a cross-disciplinary program between the Division of Journalism and the Cox School of Business. A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree is highly preferred. A minimum of seven years’ experience in print or broadcast journalism is required; a solid background in business news is highly preferred. A contract of up to three years will be awarded with the possibility for renewal.

Southern Methodist University is a private liberal arts university, founded in 1911, and located in the heart of metropolitan Dallas, Texas. The university is nationally ranked in U.S. News & World Report’s Guide to Colleges. The Division serves approximately 150 undergraduate students in the Meadows School of the Arts. Experiential-learning classes in London and Taos are also offered through the Division.
