In a story from MSNBC about the newspaper war in Seattle and how the Post-Intelligencer is trying to revamp the entire paper to attract younger readers comes this snippet about the business desk:
“Some of the P-I’s teams resemble their former departments with slight changes. The business team, for instance, has one fewer writer, as the real estate reporter moved from business to the neighborhoods team. The business section has always focused on Seattle and will continue to do so, said Margaret Santjer, the P-I’s business editor.”
The changes are being made because the Post-Intelligencer is in a fight with the Seattle Times. They operate as a JOA, but the Times has the larger circulation by about 70,000. Both newspapers have been losing circulation recently.
