Brad Skillman has been named alternative data editor at Bloomberg News.
The position is part news, part product as the news organization tries to figure out better ways to tell stories using data.
Skillman has previously been a senior editor on the breaking news team, using data to help support Bloomberg’s M&A and earnings coverage. He was separately working to enhance its data journalism training in Python, R, SQL, Excel and proprietary Bloomberg technologies.
He previously was a team leader and managing editor for Bloomberg First Word and an editor for its Top news section.
Skillman previously worked at the Associated Press as assistant business editor and stock market tables editor.
