Skift hires Abdellatif for news team

Reem Abdellatif

Business journalist Reem Abdellatif will be joining travel industry news site Skift as editorial assistant.

She will start Feb. 1.

In her role, Abdellatif will be assisting editor-in-chief Tom Lowry with production and edit duties, including with newsletters, podcasts and social media. In addition, she will be writing stories from time to time.

She was previously a contributor for Skift based in Dubai, reporting on the MENA region before the pandemic hit.

Abedellatif has worked for the Wall Street Journal, the Los Angeles Times, and as the editor of Argaam Plus, an online English news service covering business in Saudi Arabia. She began her career as an intern at AP in Cairo.

Abedellatif has degrees from The American University in Cairo and the University of South Carolina. She is a founding member of African Women Rights Advocates.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
