Six voted to SABEW board

Six business journalists were elected to serve three-year terms on the Society of American Business Editors and Writers board of governors.

Three were incumbents: Kim Quillen, business editor of The (New Orleans) Times-Picayune; Walden Siew, a top news editor at Reuters; and freelancer Jonathan Blum.

The other three elected were: Marla Dickerson, deputy business editor of the Los Angeles Times; Gail MarksJarvis, a columnist for the Chicago Tribune; and Cory Schouten, a business reporter at the Indianapolis Business Journal.

The results were announced Saturday night at the closing event of the SABEW conference. Members from across the country voted electronically.

In addition, Jill Jorden Spitz, assistant managing editor for business at the Arizona Daily Star, took over as president of the organization. She previously had been SABEW vice president and replaces Kevin Noblet, a managing editor at Dow Jones Newswires. SABEW’s president serves a one-year term.

Stepping up to SABEW vice president is Beth Hunt, manager of editorial operations at American City Business Journals.
