Six elected to SABEW board for three-year terms

The Society for Advancing Business Editing and Writing members elected three new members to its board of governors:

  • Alan Deutschman, professor and Reynolds Endowed Chair of Business Journalism;
    University of Nevada, Reno
  • Desiree Hanford, lecturer, Medill/Northwestern University; and
  • Scott Wenger, group editorial eirector, SourceMedia.

“We are very pleased to welcome these three outstanding business journalists to the board. The breadth, depth, and diversity of their experience will strengthen SABEW,” said executive director Kathleen Graham in a statement. “I look forward to working with the new, re-elected and current members to advance the mission of SABEW.”

Three incumbent governors were re-elected, each serving three-year terms:

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
