The San Francisco Chronicle has hired J.D. Morris of the Santa Rosa Press-Democrat to cover energy and transportation.
He replaces David Baker, who recently left The Chronicle to join Bloomberg.
Morris was part of the Pulitzer-winning team who won recognition for the Press-Democrat’s coverage of the Wine Country fires.
Ginny LaRoe is also joining The Chronicle for a four-month stint as deputy business editor.
She was managing editor of The Recorder, an ALM publication, and criminal justice editor of Nola.com. LaRoe is filling in temporarily for Kate Galbraith, who returns in February.
“We are thrilled to have a talented and experienced journalist like Ginny join us to bolster the business team while Kate is away,” said business editor Owen Thomas.
