TALKING BIZ NEWS EXCLUSIVE
Alan Saracevic, the business editor at the San Francisco Chronicle, has moved over to the paper’s sports desk to be the sports editor, Saracevic confirms.
Saracevic had been business editor for the past couple of years, and before that was the deputy business editor. Prior to his time at The Chronicle, Saracevic spent five years at The San Francisco Examiner, working as a copy editor, reporter and editor in the business department.
As a reporter, he covered the technology industry and counts the dot-com boom and bust as the biggest story he covered as a writer. In addition to working for San Francisco’s daily newspapers, Saracevic has written for Mother Jones Magazine, the San Francisco Bay Guardian, SFWeekly and Business 2.0. He’s a Rutgers graduate.
Herel previously oversaw the paper’s technology coverage. She has spent the better part of 18 years in the newspaper business and for the past 10 has been employed by Hearst, starting at the old Examiner. Most recently, she created The Chronicle’s Continuous News Desk and ran it for more than two years before jumping into the fray in the business section.
In addition, real estate editor Bill Burnett took early retirement, but has not yet been replaced.
