Senior business reporter Deon Roberts is leaving the Charlotte Observer on July 12.
He will become the communications director for Brighthouse Financial, which is based in Charlotte, on July 15.
Roberts has been at the Observer since February 2013, and he has been covering financial services companies such as Bank of America and Wells Fargo. He also covered Atrium Health and Novant Health, Charlotte’s two largest health care systems; and Duke Energy, one of the largest electric utilities in the U.S.
He previously was editor in chief of the Mecklenburg Times.
He spent seven years at New Orleans CityBusiness.
