Jerry Lewis, the former editor and co-publisher of the Boulder County Business Report, writes Friday about the decision to sell the paper to Brown Publishing Co., which has bought other business papers in the past year.
Lewis wrote, “I’ve never given a lot of credence to horoscopes, but as we negotiated the sale of the publishing company we had built since 1989, I started reading mine religiously each morning.
“‘Don’t let emotional issues spoil your plans,’ it read one day. Sometimes, I’d clip them out and set them on the desk of Jeff Schott, my co-publisher.
“‘What’s your horoscope say today?’ Jeff would ask me as we nervously awaited the daily call from lawyers or business advisers.
“There’s no way to be unemotional about selling the company that has pretty much consumed your waking hours for 18 years and a good portion of your sleeping hours, too.”
