Coral Garnick has been hired as the health care and retail reporter for the Puget Sound Business Journal.
Garnick writes, “I could not be more thrilled to cover two such different, yet equally exciting and important beats here in Seattle. We have a lot of big nationally known names in that bunch: Starbucks, REI, Costco, Fred Hutch, UW Medicine and so many more. There are also hundreds of small- and medium-sized businesses all around the region. The diversity is exciting. I can’t wait to cover the news for each one.
“I’m originally from a small town in Southeast Alaska and grew up commercial fishing in the summers with my dad. But, I’ve been in and out of the area since attending Western Washington University. I took a break from journalism after graduating in 2009 and served in the Peace Corps in Honduras, returning to the U.S. in 2012.
“Before finally making my way back to the Seattle-area a little more than two years ago, I completed my master’s at Columbia University in New York City and interned at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel in Wisconsin.”
