“I was awarded the Charles Snowden Program for Excellence in Journalism internship in 2014, the summer after I graduated with a bachelor’s in new media communications – the closest degree to journalism I could find at the primarily engineering university.
“I moved to the Seattle area right after that and began my career at Sound Publishing in 2015. My first beat as a general assignment reporter was the city of Sammamish, a rapidly growing, affluent suburb east of Seattle which now more than 60,000 people call home. I covered everything and anything related to the city, and I won awards for my government, education and feature reporting.
