Peggy Collins, U.S. economy managing editor at Bloomberg News, sent out the following announcement on Monday:
To all on U.S. Eco:
We’re delighted to announce that Catarina Saraiva will be joining the Fed team, based in Houston, covering regional Fed banks and focusing on trends in the labor market and broader economy.
Catarina is a longstanding comrade-in-arms and adjunct Federale who for years has worked closely with our Fed reporters and broader economy team on surveys, graphics and data.
She moved to Houston last year and has already been covering Fed speeches around Texas. Prior to that, she was based in Washington from 2012 to 2018 where she worked on the global economic surveys team while helping on economic stories and with Benchmark.
Catarina joined Bloomberg in 2009 from the intern program and spent the first two years of her career covering currency markets during the European debt crisis and Japanese earthquake.
We’re thrilled to have her skills on the team and look forward to leveraging them — and her regional location — to bolster our coverage of the economy, 2020 campaign, immigration and Fed.
Please join us in wishing her a warm welcome!
