Ernie Sander, deputy editor of the media and technology group at The Wall Street Journal, is leaving the paper to become managing editor at ContentNext, the parent of PaidContent.org.
Sander has worked at Dow Jones & Co. for the past decade in a variety of roles. Most recently, he served as deputy editor in the media and technology Group at The Journal. In this role, Sander co-managed an 15-person reporting group that covers major media and technology companies ranging from Time Warner, NBC and News Corp. to AT&T and Comcast.
He previously served as a senior editor in The Journal’s Weekend Group and, before that, was managing editor of The Asian Wall Street Journal’s Personal Journal section.
Prior to his tenure at The Journal, he served as an editor and reporter with the Associated Press in California and New York. Sander has an MA in journalism from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University and a BA in administrative science from Colby College.
“People now have an insatiable desire for the very latest news and smart analysis, and the Web is the ideal place to provide it. After 10 great years at the Journal, I’m excited about making the transition from print to online, said Sander in the statement.
