Pam Sander has been named the regional editor at Gannett. Recently, she was serving as the Southeast regional editor for GateHouse Media. In her new role, Sander will oversee operations at 21 daily newsrooms in West Virginia, Virginia, Georgia and the Carolinas, including the Herald-Journal.
Sander has served in many newsroom roles and was the Charlotte Observer’s first general-assignment female sports columnist.
“Journalism has been a calling for me since a very early age,” said Sander. “To be in this business now, as the internet enables us to reach more readers than ever, is exciting. To lead the Southeast is particularly special. My family has so much history in the Virginias, Carolinas and Georgia, dating back to the colonies.”
Sander is a B.A. in English language and literature from Clemson University.
