Sciacca had been covering food, hospitality, manufacturing and retail industries for the Business Times. Her new job is on the BANG metro desk, covering mostly business and economic development all over the East Bay.
She will start March 24.
BANG stands for the Bay Area Newspaper Group and includes the San Jose Mercury News and the Oakland Tribune.
At the Business Times, Sciacca previously reported on small business, startups, sustainable technology and business, economic development and gender in business.
She is currently a candidate for a master’s degree in political science at San Francisco State University, with a focus in studying public law and global feminism.
Sciacca graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with a bachelor of arts in media studies and a certificate in Spanish language and literature. While in school, she worked as a city government reporter at the award-winning Daily Californian and interned at the San Francisco Chronicle as an editorial web producer.
