San Fran Chronicle hires assistant business editor

Jess McCuan, who has edited the Asheville Scene magazine in North Carolina, is packing up to be the assistant business editor at the San Francisco Chronicle.

McCuan has also worked as an editor at Verve magazine and The Next American City magazine.

Before that, she has background in financial journalism working at The Wall Street Journal and Inc. magazine, where she wrote and reported news and feature stories about entrepreneurs who run America’s fastest-growing private companies.

McCuan has degrees from DePauw University and Columbia University.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
