Ulises Bucio profiles San Diego Union-Tribune business reporter Roger Showley, who covers growth and development.
Bucio writes, “Showley wrote a book about the development of San Diego in 1999. After finishing it, he did the same for Balboa Park.
“‘That’s been a fun thing to cover over a long time is the issues in Balboa Park, San Diego’s crown jewel,’ Showley said.
“Showley has worked in the field of journalism for over 40 years and has plans for his near future.
“‘Well, I’ve been here a long time and I’m figuring to be here maybe two or three more years and then I figure I’ll be done with the newspaper business,’ Showley said. ‘I’m not sure what I will do after that. I would like to write more books on San Diego.'”
