San Diego daily names online biz editor

Diana McCabe is the new business editor for online at the San Diego Union-Tribune, which means she’s in charge of getting business news content on the paper’s Web site.

McCabe, who had a similar position at the Orange County Register, writes, “I’ll be working with the business reporters to publish stories on the Web and developing blogs. Right now the U-T publishes stories for print — and then those stories are posted online the next day. I’ll simply be guiding them to work on the Web first.

Jim Watters remains the business editor of the paper. McCabe says, “We’ll be teaming up to produce a comprehensive report for both print and online.”

McCabe had also worked as a writer at Chapman University in Orange County. She had worked for nearly 20 years at the Register, including stints as the personal finance reporter, transportation reporter and real estate editor.

McCabe also worked at the Austin American-Statesman. Right before joining the San Diego daily, she helped launch SecondAct.com for Entrepreneur Media.
