Huntley Paton, a longtime executive at American City Business Journals, has been hired as the publisher of the San Diego Business Journal.
He starts Sept. 1. The San Diego paper is not an American City paper.
Paton left Charlotte-based ACBJ at the end of last month. His last position was executive editor of its online operations.
Paton had been in that position since December 2007. Before that, he spent 11 years as the publisher of the Dallas Business Journal, an ACBJ paper.
His career at the company also included stints as managing editor and editor of the Dallas paper, editor of the Pittsburgh Business Times and a staff writer at the San Francisco Business Times, Cincinnati Business Courier and Washington Business Journal.
Paton is also an accomplished photojournalist with experience shooting NFL games and other professional and collegiate sports, including three Super Bowls.
