San Antonio Express-News hires Ehlinger as tech reporter
San Antonio Express-News business editor Dawn Kopecki sent out the following announcement on Tuesday:
I’m excited to announce that Samantha Ehlinger will be joining our team as the paper’s first ever fulltime tech reporter. Sam is ideally suited for the job, coming from FedScoop in Washington, D.C. where she currently covers the intersection of technology and federal contracting. She interned at the Houston Chronicle and McClatchy in D.C. where she helped to produce an interactive series (http://media.mcclatchydc.com/static/features/irradiated/) on America’s foray into nuclear weaponry.
She’s fluent in French, having spent a year teaching English in France, and is a classically trained ballet dancer. (Her little sister is currently working on Broadway.) A Houston native, Sam received her bachelor’s degree from Texas Christian University. She can’t wait to relocate to Texas where she can finally find some decent breakfast tacos and queso.
She’ll be covering the burgeoning tech scene in San Antonio (with some Austin coverage). Sam will take over coverage of Rackspace, Geekdom, Texas NSA, the Airforce Cyber Command centers, cybersecurity and hacking, cutting edge tech developments at the Southwest Research Institute, AT&T, Google Fiber and Trump’s favorite web developer Giles-Parscale. She’ll have free reign to dip into national trend stories and will also be looking for any tech stories coming out of the Mexican wall contracts.
Sam’s copied above so feel free to reach out with news tips, housing advice or offers to help with the move. She starts May 15.
