San Antonio Biz Journal adds two to editorial staff

Reporter Stephanie Guzman (right) and visual journalist Carlos Javier Sanchez have joined the San Antonio Business Journal, starting Monday.

Web editor James Aldridge writes, “Guzman will cover commercial real estate, residential real estate and retail development. She is taking over the reporting duties previously handled by Tricia Lynn Silva, a 17-year newsroom veteran who was recently promoted to assistant managing editor.

“Guzman, a Southern California native, recently moved to San Antonio with her fiancé to write the next chapter of their lives. She worked for Agoura Hills, California-based Acorn Newspapers, a five-paper community journalism company, for more than two years covering city government, politics and police. She has also completed internships at NPR and the BBC.

“Guzman earned a bachelor’s degree at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles and a master’s degree in online journalism at the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism.

“Sanchez is an award-winning photographer with experience working on photo assignments throughout North America for The New York Times, the Houston Chronicle, The Washington Post, Bloomberg News, Time and NASA.”
