Dawn Kopecki, the business editor at the San Antonio Express-News, is leaving the newspaper after two-and-a-half years for an editing job at CNBC.com.
Here is the announcement from CNBC.com managing editor Jeff McCracken:
I am pleased to announce Dawn Kopecki is joining CNBC.com as an editor helping oversee our coverage of retail, health care and other industries. She will report to Christina Cheddar-Berk, Senior Editor of our corporate news team.
Dawn has 25 years of experience covering all manners of business and finance, most recently as the Business Editor at the San Antonio Express-News. Since joining them in 2015, her team has won numerous state and national awards for coverage of local and Texas business issues.
Previously, she was a senior writer at Bloomberg News for more than seven years. While there she broke numerous stories on the mortgage market and political fallout during the financial crisis, including coverage of TARP and executive compensation restrictions in Dodd-Frank. Before Bloomberg, Dawn was a correspondent at BusinessWeek and a reporter at Dow Jones.
She received her bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Pennsylvania State University and is a certified yoga teacher. While excited to move back up North, she’s going to miss the winters and breakfast tacos in Texas.
She will join CNBC.com in late June. Please welcome Dawn to our team.
