Wall Street Journal political editor Jeanne Cummings sent out the following announcement on Friday:

All,

We are pleased to announce that Vivian Salama is returning to The Wall Street Journal as a reporter on our National Security team.

In her new assignment, Vivian will place special emphasis on the evolving relationship between the U.S. and China. She will collaborate with her Washington DC colleagues as well as those in New York, San Francisco and Asia who are already doing exceptional and award-winning work in this area. Her first day back at the WSJ will be March 18.

Vivian was a star on our White House team covering former President Trump before leaving to join CNN in 2020. She has covered US foreign policy and national security issues for nearly two decades, reporting from more than 70 countries. A native of New York, she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Rutgers University, a Masters degree in Middle East politics from Columbia University and recently a Law degree from Georgetown University.
