Sacramento Biz Journal names new publisher

Terry Hillman, the advertising director of the Kansas City Business Journal, has been named the publisher of the Sacramento Business Journal.

Melanie Turner of the Sacramento paper writes, “Hillman succeeds Joanna Wessman, who last month announced her intention to step downin order to devote more time to economic development in the region. Wessman, 59, became publisher in 2008 after 12 years as advertising director. Her last day will be Feb. 17.

“Hillman, 42, becomes publisher on Feb. 20. He has been ad director in Kansas City since joining American City Business Journals  nine years ago. Both papers are among 40 business weeklies owned by the Charlotte-based company.

”I’m confident he’ll bring the same steady hand he has shown in Kansas City to our Sacramento operation,’ said Whitney Shaw, president and chief executive officer of ACBJ, in an announcement to employees.

“Shaw thanked Wessman for her 16 years with the Sacramento Business Journal, calling her a ‘champion for change and improvement at the paper.'”
