SABEW’s fall conference coming to New York next month

SABEW NYC17, SABEW’s annual fall conference, is being held Oct. 12-13 at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism, 219 W 40th St, New York, NY 10018.

The conference opens with a reception and The McGraw Symposium: Fake News to Virtual Reality – Journalism in the Age of Trump on the evening of Thursday, Oct. 12.

On Friday, Oct. 13, MSNBC’s Ali Velshi will sit down with Chobani CEO Hamdi Ulukaya, you will hear from Joey Levin CEO of IAC, parent company of Match.com, Tinder, Angie’s List and Vimeo.

Hear from Diana B. Henriques about Wall Street’s Worst Day Ever and Why Black Monday 1987 Still Matters.

Training sessions include “Freedom, Flexibility and Fun: How to Thrive as a Freelance Journalist,” “Finding the Way Forward in Health Care,” “Tools Every Digital Journalist Needs,” “Covering the Trump Family Businesses” and “Finding Hidden ‘Gold’ About Private Companies.”

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
