SABEW to hold conference call on executive pay

A new proxy season is looming, and both journalists and companies are dealing with the SEC’s revised rules for corporate disclosure of how and how much top executives are paid.

To help member business reporters get the details and get them right, the Society of American Business Editors and Writers will sponsor a 90-minute conference call on Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 2 p.m.. EST on covering executive compensation.Â

An expert panel will offer tips and guidance on how to find, add up and write about CEO pay at companies you cover. Participants also will have a chance to ask questions.

Moderating the call will be Dave Kansas, the former editor of the Wall Street Journal’s ‘Money & Investing” section who now directs the new personal finance Web site filife.com. The panelists are Rachel Beck, who writes the All Business column for The Associated Press; David Milstead, finance editor at the Rocky Mountain News, and David Wise, an executive pay consultant at Hay Group.

If you are a SABEW member and are interested in participating in the call, please e-mail sabew@missouri.edu to reserve a spot.Â

If you have ideas about specific issues you’d like to hear the panel address, you can email David Kansas at dave.kansas@iac.com.
