The Society of American Business Editors and Writers released Wednesday the winners of its annual Best in Business contest for 2009.
With 13, the New York Times captured the most awards.
In the entire contest, there were 163 winners out of a total of 796 entries, the second highest entry total in the history of the contest.
The awards will be presented Saturday, March 20, during SABEW’s 47th annual conference.
Here are some of the top categories:
2. The Los Angeles Business Journal, Street & Smith’s Sports Business Journal and the Puget Sound Business Journal were the winners in the general excellence category for business weeklies.
3. Fast Company, BusinessWeek and Kiplinger’s Personal Finance won in the general excellence category for giant magazines.
4. The best business news Web sites in the large division were nytimes.com, CNBC.com and CNNMoney.com. In the mid-size category, the winners were SmartMoney.com and the Dallas Business Journal’s site.
5. The best blogs at the large sites were the Wall Street Journal’s “Real-Time Economics Blog,” Jon Lansner‘s blog on real estate for the Orange County Register and the “Mortgage Matters” blog at bankrate.com.
Multiple winners in various categories include The State in Columbia, S.C., the Sarasota Herald-Tribune, Reuters, The Wall Street Journal, Detroit Free Press, Bloomberg Markets magazine, Charlotte Observer, Puget Sound Business Journal and Indianapolis Business Journal.
