Roth returns to Fortune as ME of site

Fortune managing editor Andy Serwer sent out the following announcement to the staff Thursday morning:

“I’m very pleased to announce that Daniel Roth will be returning to FORTUNE as the new Managing Editor of Fortune.com. Dan is an accomplished and techno-savvy business journalist who has covered the world’s largest companies from Microsoft and Estee Lauder to eBay and Comcast. He is particularly astute in understanding both web and magazine journalism as an editor and as a writer. His reporting has taken him around the world, including stints in China, Dubai, Israel and Estonia, and across the U.S. Dan joins us from Wired in New York, where he was a Senior Writer; he left FORTUNE in 2006 after eight years to go to Portfolio.

“I’m excited to have Dan at FORTUNE to take on this exciting new position. As we said when we announced the reformulation of the whole FORTUNE franchise, one of the things we plan to do is reinvent FORTUNE.com within the framework of its home on CNNMoney.com. Dan will be heading up that effort. Please join me in welcoming Thunder Dan back home.”
