Ro departing Axios for new opportunity

Sam Ro

Sam Ro, who has been writing the markets newsletter for Axios, announced Friday that he was leaving for a new opportunity.

He has been at Axios since June.

He previously was managing editor at Yahoo Finance. Ro has also served as deputy editor at Business Insider where he led coverage of global markets covering stocks, bonds, commodities, currencies, derivatives, economics and more.

He has also provided analysis and opinions on the economy, equities, bonds, currencies, commodities, IPOs, and M&A deals in a freelance capacity for forbes.com, dealbreaker.com, thefiscaltimes.com, businessinsider.com and seekingalpha.com.

He was also a senior equity analyst at Forbes Investors Advisory Institute.

Ro is a graduate of Boston University.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
