Tonya Riley will be joining CyberScoop as a reporter covering cybersecurity as well as helping the team build out more of its tech and privacy coverage.
Her new role begins Jun. 1.
Most recently, Riley was at The Washington Post covering technology and cybersecurity policy for the Technology 202 and Cybersecurity 202 newsletters as a researcher and reporter.
She has also worked freelance for Buzzfeed, Esquire, Wired, MEL, CNBC and others.
She was also a senior editorial fellow at Mother Jones and a future tense research associate at New America. Riley has also contributed to Inverse.com writing about tech and innovation and was an associate editor at Heleo Media.
She was also a news editor at Brown Daily Herald Inc.
Previously, she interned at Fast Company, The American Prospect and The New Republic.
Riley is a graduate of Brown University.
