Gina Cherelus, a U.S. general news reporter for Reuters in New York City, has left and is joining the opinion desk of the New York Times as an editorial assistant.
She will start her new job on April 22.
At Reuters, Cherelus covered breaking news, city crime, natural disasters, giant pandas, and election cycles.
She’s previously worked and written for Elle magazine, The Miami Herald, Forbes Travel Guide, Very Smart Brothas, OkayAfrica and more.
She holds a B.S. in broadcast journalism from Florida A&M University.
