Reuters reporter Becker hires by The 19th as Washington correspondent

Amanda Becker

Reuters reporter Amanda Becker has been hired by The 19th as its Washington correspondent.

As its Washington correspondent, Becker will cover Congress, the Capitol and the players in that world.

At Reuters, Becker has been a national political correspondent, a congressional correspondent and a labor correspondent. She has been at Reuters since March 2013.

Her work has run on National Public Radio and her byline has been in the Washington Post, Roll Call, LA Weekly, the Christian Science Monitor, Yahoo News, Huffington Post, the New York Times and the New Republic, among others.

Becker has also worked for the Los Angeles Daily Journal and the Capitol Business publication of The Washington Post.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
