Stella Dawson has been named to the new post of U.S. specialist economics editor for Reuters, based in Washington, according to an announcement Friday.
Most recently, Dawson has been Top News editor for the Americas.
Dawson will focus on producing agenda-setting stories about the U.S. economy at a time of immense challenges for U.S. policymakers, investors and businesses. She plans to use her experience to write deeply reported initiative stories that set the agenda on one of the most competitive news stories in the world.
An experienced television reporter, Dawson also will help raise Reuters’ profile through TV appearances and panels. She will report to Tim Ahmann, economics editor in chief in Washington. Reporting to her will be Lucia Mutikani and Jason Lange who cover the bulk of the U.S. economic data from Washington.
