Reuters names Prodhan chief company correspondent in Germany

Noah Barkin, bureau chief of Germany, Austria and Switzerland for Reuters, sent out the following announcement on Monday:

I’m very pleased to announce that Georgina Prodhan will be moving to Frankfurt in September to take on the role of Chief Correspondent, Company News, Germany.

In this position, Georgina will oversee our team of international service correspondents covering German corporate news and help lead the push to deliver insightful, innovative, in-depth stories on the company news file. Georgina returns to the Frankfurt bureau, where she started her career as a text reporter for Reuters covering technology companies, after stints in London and Vienna.

In London, as European technology, media and telecoms correspondent, she covered the News Corp phone hacking scandal and Internet regulation, among other topics. For the past two years, she has worked as senior correspondent in Vienna, covering an array of corporate and political stories. Georgina started her journalism career more than two decades ago with Visnews, which was later acquired by Reuters and became Reuters Television.

A speaker of German, Russian and French, she worked as a TV producer in Moscow and London for Reuters, covering the disintegration of the former Soviet Union and the first Chechen war, and also had stints at Sky News and the BBC.

In the new role, Georgina will take on a prominent beat of her own, and work closely with her predecessor Maria Sheahan, now Chief Speed Editor in Frankfurt, our Chief Banking correspondent Tom Atkins and our high-performing German service to deliver a file that consistently beats our competitors in both speed and depth. She will report to me.
