Reuters memo on pulled tax story

TALKING BIZ NEWS EXCLUSIVE

Reuters service withdrew a story earlier this week written by Terri Cullen about a White House tax plan after numerous errors were discovered.

Now, Keith McAllister, global editor of online at Reuters, has sent a memo — obtained by Talking Biz News — to blog editors and the global online staff reminding them about the news company’s policies, apparently explaining what went wrong.

McAllister’s memo states, “This is an important reminder about our second-pair-of-eyes rule… Any content intended for reuters.com needs to be run past an editor PRIOR to publication. This applies to any and all content, including that intended for the blog platform.

“Please forward this as appropriate. Any questions should come immediately to Richard or me.”
