USA Today justice and investigations editor Brad Heath has been hired by Reuters to do investigative reporting.
He starts next week in the Reuters’ DC bureau.
He has been in his current role since January. Before that, Heath spent 12 years as an investigations reporter and deputy investigations editor for USA Today, writing mostly about law and criminal justice. His reporting has exposed serious shortcomings in police attempts to pursue accused felons, revealed questionable sting operations by the ATF, and highlighted wrongdoing by federal prosecutors.
It has freed at least 35 people from federal prison, inspired a massive effort to test for air pollution around the nation’s schools, and helped prompt the U.S. Justice Department to launch a new effort targeting attorney misconduct.
He has also worked at the Detroit News and the Binghamton (New York) Press & Sun-Bulletin.
