Dan Burns and Kieran Muray of Reuters sent out the following announcement:
We’re delighted to announce that Heather Timmons is joining Reuters as our Economics Editor in Washington.
Heather will lead our economics team in Washington, covering the U.S. economy, the Federal Reserve and Trump’s trade policies. She has a strong record of covering spot news and also digging deeper for smart, original stories on economics, politics, finance and society.
Heather will report to Dan Burns and will be part of the Washington bureau’s team of editors. She starts on Aug 26.
Heather comes to Reuters from Quartz, where she has been White House correspondent since the start of the Trump administration.
She worked for a decade at the The New York Times, first as its European finance correspondent based in London, then as a New Delhi-based business correspondent and then as the co-founder and editor of its India Ink news journal.
Heather moved to Quartz in 2013, based in Hong Kong and leading a team of reporters from mainland China and Hong Kong and freelancers across Asia. She also previously worked as Banking Editor with BusinessWeek and in reporting positions at The Daily Deal and American Banker.
