Pulitzer Prize winner David Rohde is the latest columnist to join Reuters as it moves to broaden its commentary operation and expand its digital presence.
Rohde will write columns on foreign affairs and globalization.
“I’ve long admired David’s richly reported, deeply insightful work. I’m thrilled that he’s joining our Reuters team,” said Stephen Adler, editor-in-chief, Reuters, in a statement.
A 15-year veteran of The New York Times, Rohde worked as an investigative reporter, South Asia bureau co-chief and metropolitan news reporter. He also served as an Eastern Europe correspondent for The Christian Science Monitor, a suburban correspondent for The Philadelphia Inquirer and a production associate at ABC News.
Rohde’s stories for The Christian Science Monitor on the Srebrenica massacre in Bosnia won the 1996 Pulitzer Prize for International Reporting. He garnered his second Pulitzer Prize when he and a team of reporters at The New York Times won for their reporting from Afghanistan and Pakistan in 2009. The following year Rohde’s series on his seven months in Taliban captivity was named a Pulitzer Prize finalist.
Rohde authored ‘Endgame: The Betrayal and Fall of Srebrenica, Europe’s Worst Massacre Since World War II,’ and co-wrote with his wife Kristen Mulvihill ‘A Rope and A Prayer: A Kidnapping from Two Sides.’ Rohde grew up in New England, where he graduated from Brown University. He lives in New York City.
