Reuters DC bureau names head of breaking news unit

Reuters Washington bureau chief Marilyn Thompson sent out the following staff announcement on Monday afternoon:

I’m really pleased to announce that David Storey has accepted our offer to lead the new breaking news unit in the bureau.

David has been a key force in shaping this project, and he brings not only vast experience but also fresh ideas to the job. We know that David’s decision will make this a much easier transition, and we are really excited about it.

Stay tuned for more news on this very soon. This is a critical first step!

Storey has been an editor on the Reuters Americas desk. He was the Reuters political correspondent in London during the final months in power of British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.
