Sustainable Business has exploded as a major growth area for companies, investors and markets. Funds that focus on environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues – from carbon emissions to worker conditions to boardroom diversity have seen huge inflows.
Last year, we created two new roles in the Global Finance and Markets team to focus on Sustainable Finance. We are now formalizing that structure further to manage the pipeline of stories from around the broader newsroom and to better serve both Refinitiv and Reuters Professional audiences.
It is important to note that while this group will focus on Sustainable Business coverage and work closely with reporters and editors in Companies, Commodities & Energy and various bureaus, we expect other teams to continue to report and pitch stories in this area as they have been doing. To help us keep track of everything that is in the works, we have created a NewsPlanner calendar called ESG / Sustainable Business – please add all related events and stories to that calendar.
Greg Roumeliotis, who leads corporate finance coverage, will add the focus on Sustainable Business to his portfolio and lead the group. He will work closely with Carmel Crimmins, who will coordinate the editing on the Global News Desk and work with Digital’s Nigel Stevenson to ensure we are publishing a steady stream of stories to feed the Sustainable Business section of the new website. Simon Jessop, chief correspondent for Sustainable Finance, and Ross Kerber, who has been building out the beat in the United States, will continue in their roles. We hope to find one more reporter in Europe to join the group, reporting to Simon. Jessica DiNapoli, our U.S. corporate governance reporter, will continue to contribute to the file and will be part of the reporting team as well.
While the team will handle only a portion of what Reuters produces every day in this area, they will actively collate and manage a Global ESG WIP and publishing schedule, so please expect to hear from them frequently about the status of your stories.
