Reuters Breakingviews hires Beddor as China columnist

Jeffrey Goldfarb, the deputy editor of Reuters Breakingviews, sent out the following staff announcement:

I am pleased to share the news that Christopher Beddor will be the newest member of the Breakingviews team, as a China columnist.

Chris joins us from Eurasia Group, where he has been analyzing Beijing’s economic and financial policies. He previously did a tour at the U.S. Department of State, speaks fluent Mandarin and worked in an American-owned factory in rural Zhejiang. At China Economic Review in Shanghai, Chris obviously left a solid impression with his editor, Pete Sweeney, who helped recruit the former magazine staff writer to Breakingviews.

Starting on Sept. 5, Chris will be based in Washington, D.C., where he currently works, before heading out to the Hong Kong office in January. Please join me in welcoming Chris.
