Reuters, Bloomberg Businessweek win Overseas Press Club awards

Stephen Grey and a team at Reuters have won the Malcolm Forbes Award from the Overseas Press Club.

The award honors the best international business news reporting in newspapers, news services or online. Grey and his team’s series was “Comrade Capitalism,” which examined how Russia does business in the Putin era.

Cam Simpson and Jesse Westbrook of Bloomberg Businessweek won the Morton Frank Award for best magazine international business news reporting in print or online.

Their story, “The Hedge Fund and the Despot,” detailed how the Och-Ziff hedge fund backed Zimbabwe dictator Robert Mugabe.

In addition, Matthew Kaminski of The Wall Street Journal won the Best Commentary Award for “On Ukraine.”

He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
