Sterne writes, “On Monday, Wired senior staff writer Mat Honan announced that his colleague Joe Brown—currently the deputy editor of Wired.com—had been promoted to editor of the site. Honan, who is leaving Wired to head Buzzfeed’s San Francisco bureau, tweeted: “Media news Twitter activate: Congratulations to the new editor of http://Wired.com, @joemfbrown.”
“But Wired never announced Brown’s promotion, and Wired.com’s current editor Mark McClusky has not stepped down from his position, which has led to some confusion about who is actually in charge of the site.

“In an email, a Wired spokesman told Capital that no promotions or staff changes have been officially announced yet, other than Honan’s departure for Buzzfeed.”
