Rashid joins VentureBeat as an executive editor

Fahmida Y. Rashid has joined VentureBeat as an executive editor.

Rashid also worked as a freelance information security journalist, contributing to publications including Dark Reading, SecurityWeek, IEEE Spectrum, SecurityWeek, Infosecurity Magazine, Daily Beast, Christian Science Monitor PASSCODE, Toms’ Guide, Dice.com, and International Security Media Group (ISMG) publications.

She has also written for The Village Voice (New York’s alternative weekly newspaper), and UBM’s Tech Page One.

Prior to joining VentureBeat, Rashid was a senior managing editor at Decipher. She has also worked at International Data Group as a senior writer, InfoWorld and as a senior writer, and CSO Online. She was also editor-in-chief at RSA Conference and has served as a development editor at Pragmatic Bookshelf.

She has also worked as an analyst, networking and security and as a senior analyst, business at PCMag.com. She was a senior writer at Ziff Davis Enterprise (eWEEK) and has worked as a product manager at The Knot.

Rashid has also served as a senior technical editor at CRN Test Center, Everything Channel. She was also a contributing editor at GenomeWeb and a reporter at Forbes.com. She has also interned at Women’s Wea Daily and worked as a consultant at IBM and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Rashid is a B.A. in psychology and political science from Barnard College and a M.S. in journalism from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism. She also holds a certificate in data journalism from Columbia University.
