Raice named WSJ’s Midwest bureau chief for US news

Shayndi Raice

Wall Street Journal reporter Shayndi Raice has been named the paper’s Midwest bureau chief for U.S. news.

She previously was a Chicago-based national news reporter covering the Midwest, focusing on the economy and economic development. Last year, she was part of a team at the Journal that won the Gerald Loeb Award for breaking news for its coverage of Amazon’s plan for a second headquarters.

She has previously covered a wide range of beats in several cities, including the Federal Reserve, mergers and acquisitions, banking and technology from London, New York and San Francisco.

Raice has been at the Journal since 2010 and previously interned for Dow Jones Newswires.

She also worked for the Boston Courant and the Jewish Advocate.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
